About BioInf4Life
A bioinformatics partner for complex life science questions.
BioInf4Life is a contract research organization helping researchers, clinicians and companies analyze, interpret and communicate biological data.
We combine computational biology, data science and software engineering to deliver customized analysis services for biotechnology companies and research institutes worldwide.
What we bring
- Biological interpretation, not just output tables
- Reproducible workflows and clear documentation
- Experience behind high-impact scientific publications
- Flexible support for academic, clinical and biotech teams
What guides our work
Biological interpretation
We do not stop at a spreadsheet. We focus on patterns, mechanisms and results that make sense in the biological context.
Reproducible analysis
Projects are built around transparent methods, robust workflows and outputs that can be reviewed, extended and reused.
Collaborative delivery
We work with your scientific team, adapt to project constraints and translate results into figures, reports and next steps.
Our story
2021
BioInf4Life UG was founded by Meik Kunz to support life science teams with practical, high-quality bioinformatics.
150+ projects
Our experience spans more than 150 bioinformatics consulting projects, from focused analyses to complex translational studies.
60+ publications
Our publication record includes over 60 peer-reviewed scientific publications, including articles in Science Translational Medicine, Immunity and the Journal of Experimental Medicine.
Today
The team combines biology, applied bioinformatics, machine learning and data science to deliver analyses suitable for high-impact publication projects.
Core team
BioInf4Life is deliberately small and specialist: biology, applied bioinformatics, machine learning and data science are handled in the same project conversations.

PD Dr. Meik Kunz, PhD
Founder, CEO and Chief Scientist
Meik studied biology at the University of Wuerzburg and completed his PhD summa cum laude before moving deeper into applied bioinformatics. After postdoctoral work he became group leader for Applied Bioinformatics at Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuernberg and completed his habilitation in 2023.
His consulting work spans more than 150 bioinformatics projects, and his publication record includes over 60 peer-reviewed scientific articles, including work in Science Translational Medicine, Immunity and the Journal of Experimental Medicine.

Nicholas Dickel
Head of Artificial Intelligence
Nicholas studied Information Technology in cooperation with Siemens AG before specializing in computer science, machine learning and artificial intelligence at Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuernberg.
He connects industrial software experience with academic AI work and supports projects where robust analysis workflows, automation and model-driven interpretation need to fit real biological questions.
