Our Story
2021
BioInf4Life UG was founded in 2021 by Meik Kunz. He and his team are passionate scientists who belive that the field of bioinformatics has the potential to revolutionize the way we understand and treat diseases.
2022
In 2022, we focused on developing core technologies and pipelines to analyze and interpret complex biological data. We applied traditional bioinformatics as well as modern ML algorithms to handle over 20 projects successfully.
2023
We are expanding our reach to build strategic partnerships and cooperations with key players in the bioinformatics industry and academics. Our goal is to provide support for real-world issues through the analysis of data and the development of bioinformatics infrastructures for our clients.

Meik Kunz (PhD)
CEO and Chief Scientist
Meik earned his M.Sc. in Biology from the University of Würzburg, and holds a PhD (summa cum laude) from the University of Würzburg. After 2 years as postdoctoral fellowship, Meik started as a Group Leader for Applied Bioinformatics at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. He finished his habilitation in 2023. Meik has authored >50 scientific papers, consulted for biotech companies and financiers.
Nicholas Dickel (M.Sc.)
Head of Artificial Intelligence
Nicholas obtained his M.Sc. in computer science from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. Nicholas began his academic journey by studying Information Technology (Bachelor) in collaboration with Siemens AG in Stuttgart, Germany, laying a solid industrial foundation for his career. Driven by his passion for computer science, he specialized in machine learning and artificial intelligence during his master’s studies. He authored several publications, and actively participates in various academic and industrial projects to continuously expand his expertise in the field.
Dominik Lerm (M.Sc.)
Head of Data Science
Dominik started his professional journey in the field of medical engineering, where he pursued his Bachelor’s degree at the Technical University of Applied Sciences Amberg-Weiden. While gaining experience as a member of the research and development team at WaveLight, he developed a profound fascination for the analysis of biological and patient data, as well as the visualization of such data. Consequently, he directed his academic focus towards data science during his master’s studies in computer science at the university of Erlangen-Nürnberg. Dominik applies his acquired knowledge particularly in the domain of single cell sequencing, fostering the development of innovative integrative in-silico platforms.
